The field of telecommunications is one that has seen many changes and upgrades throughout time. In the modern era, change is necessary in order to stay ahead and telecom companies such as Coriant have to know this better than anyone.
Coriant is the name of a fairly well known telecom company that first got into business back in 2013. At that point, the company was under the ownership of Nokia Siemens Networks, which in turn was being owned by Marlin Equity Partners. In the spring of that same year, Coriant declared itself to be an independent company and wanted to run as such. In more recent news, Marlin Equity Partners announced it would form a merger between Coriant and Tellabs, where the new entity resulting would simply run under the name of Coriant.
The one in charge of keeping Coriant in business is CEO Shaygan Kheradpir. Kheradpir was awarded to the position of CEO after he spent much of his time working and cooperating with the many vendors who operated alongside the company, and citing his work as one of his lifelong goals. With him as CEO, he replaces Pat DiPietro who will now serve as the vice chairman of the company. In his earlier years, Kheradpir, a London native, spent his youth growing up in Iran but eventually moved to the United States to begin taking classes at Cornell University.
Upon his graduation from college, Kheradpir took his first job by working as a network and routing manager at GTE Laboratories. His work with the company impressed the higher-ups enough for them to appoint him as their chief information officer (CIO). In 2000, GTE had merged with Bell Atlantic and formed Verizon as a result, with Kheradpir remaining as the new company’s CIO. During his tenure at the company Kheradpir was responsible for managing small teams, who would look for new ideas to develop for marketing, one of which turned out to be a contribution to Verizon’s FiOS fiber optic video initiative, which would be useful for DVR. Over the course of time he also saw a reduction in the information technology budget and number of staff needed to run the company.
