Sujit Choudhry is the Founding Director of The Center for Constitutional Transitions. His center makes use of an international network of constitutional authorities who create evidence-based policy options for those who are implementing a constitution or transitioning their current one. He now has 50 experts he can draw on to create these policy options who are located in 25 different nations. Additionally, he has partnered with think tanks, NGOs, and other organizations.

As someone who has taught comparative constitutional law for almost 20 years, Sujit Choudhry has said that there is a great deal of information about constitution building that is either outdated, inadequate, or non-existent. In his travels to other nations who are implementing new constitutions, Sujit Choudhry has said that he’s learned to listen to people who are on the ground because they know what they need better than anybody else does. Sujit Choudhry has taught at the University of California, Berkeley – School of Law since 2014. Sujit Choudhry holds the prestigious I. Michael Heyman Professor of Law chair. Other stops in his career in academics includes the New York University School of Law and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Choudry’s international reputation as a constitutional law expert has resulted in him serving as an advisor many times during different nation’s constitution building process.
